When travel to Iceland, you can buy a local sim card for your convenient especially self drive friends. You can check the weather and the road conditions anytime.

Compared to wifi, Iceland mobile network is more faster and wide coverage including the black sand beach and glacier areas,the signal may be weak but can call anyway.
You are given GPS when buy a self drive package. You need to upgrade to get GPS if rent car only. However suggested to buy a sim card as the weather in Iceland is unpredictable. Nova is a new mobile network and popular among the youngsters in Iceland. Nova the cheapest and good when you stay mostly in Reykjavik.
Vodafone is the biggest competitor of Siminn. It's coverage quite good,even at some place better than Sinminn.
Tal has less users and primarily for Icelandic family services and are not practical for travelers.
